It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Domenico Sanginiti, 90 of Washingtonville, NY He flew in the arms of the Lord and entered into eternal rest on Monday November 28, 2016 in St. Luke's/Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY
Born in Calabria Italy on February 11, 1926 to Raffaele and Giuseppina (Severo) Sanginiti. He married the love of his life, Caterina nee. Trapasso on April 2nd, 1955 and were happily married until her death on January 3rd, 2001. Domenico migrated to the U.S. with his wife and three daughters on September...

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Domenico Sanginiti, 90 of Washingtonville, NY He flew in the arms of the Lord and entered into eternal rest on Monday November 28, 2016 in St. Luke's/Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY
Born in Calabria Italy on February 11, 1926 to Raffaele and Giuseppina (Severo) Sanginiti. He married the love of his life, Caterina nee. Trapasso on April 2nd, 1955 and were happily married until her death on January 3rd, 2001. Domenico migrated to the U.S. with his wife and three daughters on September 24th, 1969 and made Bronx his home before moving to Washingtonville, NY in 1990
Domenico had a long career in construction. He worked in Italy and Switzerland, blasting rock to build roads and tunnels through the Swiss Alps. When he came to the US he went straight to work in construction to support his family. In later years he owned a successful fresh produce business in the heart of Little Italy in the Bronx. He also worked as a security guard until his retirement in 1991.
Domenico loved the simple life. He loved making homemade wine, tomato sauce, and tending his vegetable garden alongside his wife. He loved his family, friends but mostly loved GOD. Domenico always lend a helping hand, especially to his kids to the very end, even when age slowed him down. He will be cherished and remembered in our hearts for his generosity and loving soul. Dad, we know that you are dancing in heaven with mom and you are finally reunited.
Domenico was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived but his three daughters and their families. Rose and John Cicero of Washingtonville, NY Josephine and Matthew Coneen of Washingtonville, NY and AnnaMaria and Peter Saetta of Washingtonville, NY Grandchildren, John and Lisa, Anthony and Meghen, Matthew, Salvatore and Catherine. His sister Rosa from Calabria Italy and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine and infant son Raffaele. Brothers, Giuseppe, Rosario and Francesco and his sister Isabella.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday December 1st, 2016 from 4PM-8PM at Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street Washingtonville, NY 10992. A Christian mass and burial will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10AM at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville, NY
Domenico was a humble and simple man and would appreciate a rosary recited for his soul.
