Irving Steenrod, lost his battle with brain cancer at age 87 on Thursday August 10, 2017.
Born and raised in Campbell Hall, NY, he lived in Washingtonville, NY for the past 62 years. He was the son of the late Raymond and Edna (nee Fuller) Steenrod.

Irving Steenrod, lost his battle with brain cancer at age 87 on Thursday August 10, 2017.
Born and raised in Campbell Hall, NY, he lived in Washingtonville, NY for the past 62 years. He was the son of the late Raymond and Edna (nee Fuller) Steenrod.
He graduated from New York State College for Teachers in Albany NY with a Master's Degree. He also received a Master's degree in Earth Science from Union College in Schenectady, NY. He was a science teacher in the Washingtonville School district for 36 years until his retirement in 1988.
After retirement he was active in Meals on Wheels. In his spare time, he enjoyed stamp and coin collecting and playing Bridge. He also enjoyed sharing breakfast monthly with his retired teacher colleagues.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Steenrod (nee Petersen), children, Susan Springer and Stephen Steenrod and his wife Elizabeth. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Justine and Jordan Springer and Natalie and Camille Steenrod. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son in law Keith Springer, both parents, Sister Mary Garvey and brothers Lewis and Reginald Steenrod.
A memorial visitation will be Saturday August 26, 2017 1:00 - 4:00pm at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY.
